Spartan Celebrates 10 Million Hours With No Lost Time Accidents
March 01, 2011
On December 21, 2010, Spartan Controls achieved a milestone in its safety performance – ten million hours, which represents 3,100 days without a lost time incident. Spartan is currently 99.47% better than industry average for workplace claims.
Spartan’s excellent safety performance was achieved through diligent safety leadership, comprehensive training, robust safety systems and a company-wide commitment to safety in all of its operations.
Mike Begin, President, says, “We place a high level of importance on having a safe workplace. Achieving 10 million hours without a lost time accident is quite an accomplishment that demonstrates how effective our proactive, comprehensive, and pragmatic approach has been. But most importantly, Spartans have been coming home to their families each and every day, safe.”
Ralph Barrie, Manager of Quality & Safety, says, “Spartan’s reputation as a stickler for safety is well known. We constantly show our commitment to health and safety, and training in these areas. A safe workplace and safe work standards by our employees are vitally important to us."
Spartan’s last lost time accident was back in August 2002. This current achievement represents Spartans safely driving over 12,000,000 kilometers, supporting customers and hundreds of operating sites, and over 3,000,000 items shipped from its distribution centres.
Additionally, Spartan has received numerous safety recognition awards from many associations such as the Canadian Gas Processors Association of Canada, Work Safe Alberta, and the Government of Saskatchewan, to name just a few, and has been recognized by Workers' Compensation as a result of our safe work performance.
